The release of Without Restraint (March 1, 2023) is still a long way off, but as word spreads about the message of hope it provides to parents and struggling children, we are beginning to book appearances to discuss Ryan’s story.
Appropriately, our first ever book conversation is set for the Goodnow Library in Sudbury, MA (21 Concord Road), on November 9th. We plan to discuss the story in detail along with a slideshow from our many adventures including Antarctica and Svalbard, while also answering questions about the process of writing a book, getting published, etc.
Although Revere, MA will forever be my hometown, I’ve lived in Sudbury for twenty-two years, and Ryan has spent his entire life here. Much of his story is rooted in teacher reactions to his behavior as a toddler, and by the decisions of local administrators once he was flagged as acting outside of the mainstream. That isn’t a knock on our local schools but acknowledges the expectations generated in a town like Sudbury were as critical to Ryan’s story as the parenting mistakes I made when he was younger.
More details to come but please mark your calendars for November 9th!
